Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Here's a look at Madeline and my breakfast conversation this morning (if you were expecting some deep, thought-provoking treatise on the past, present and future, sorry to disappoint you):

Madeline: Daddy, coming home today?

Me: Yes. He’ll be home soon, but he’ll need to sleep after working all night.

Madeline: It’s tomorrow?

Me: No, it’s today. Yesterday was Wednesday. Today is Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday.

Madeline: Today is "Tursday"?

Me: Yes.

Madeline: But I thought you said Daddy was coming home from work tomorrow?

Me: I did, but I said that yesterday when today was tomorrow.

Madeline: So it’s tomorrow?

Me: No, it’s today. Tomorrow is tomorrow, but when it’s tomorrow, it will be today.

Madeline: Tomorrow?
