Halloween was a fun-filled evening. We went trick-or-treating with some friends in a nearby neighborhood. Madeline really got into the fesitvities. Rachel Marie was just tagging along, carefully studying Madeline's technique for future Halloweens when she'd be more than just a lump in a furry suit.
When we returned home, Madeline handed out candy to trick-or-treaters who came to our house. She then dumped her own bounty on the floor and picked out several pieces of candy to give to the good witch. See, we heard a rumor that if you take some of your candy and put it out by the fireplace a good witch will drift down the chimney and leave a toy. 
Madeline placed some candy by the fireplace and asked, "Is she a lady?"
"Yes," I told her.
"It's nice of her to bring a toy."
"Yes," I agreed.
Madeline checked her pile of candy and then we all went upstairs to get our little puppies to bed after all the excitement.
